A Note from Dr. Jaishree Subramani ~ Guest Teacher on Swami Vivekananda ~ Vedic 5

A huge thanks from the Vedic 5 class to Jaishree Aunty!

It was a real privilege to teach the Senior Vedic Group at
YICG. When Rathi first approached me with the idea of doing a 6 week block on Swami Vivekananda, I accepted it with some trepidation.

In order to share the great teachings, I had to expand my
knowledge base and learn to keep our young audience engaged. We covered topics ranging from his life, the introduction of Vedanta and Yoga to the West, and his lectures on Karma, Bhakti, and Raja Yoga. We also delved into the immersive neuroscientific discoveries associated with Vedantic thought and the mind.

It was a great learning experience and also a period of
realization. At the end I came away with the feeling that I had grown as a person - to convey some complicated concepts in Vedanta and Yoga, I had to indulge in some amount of contemplation and introspection.

I would like to thank my class for being so wonderful
and supportive. Without your active participation and involvement, it would not have been so rewarding.

As Vivekananda said:

"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, and this is the way great spiritual giants are produced."

YICG is a living example of such an idea and I wish Rathi and all the wonderful people associated with YICG the best in their future endeavors.

And to my class - Keep believing in yourselves!
