Raji Subramaniam

Dr. Raji Subramaniam has been part of YICG (Young Indian Culture Group, Inc) New York since 2000. She is a professor who is interested in teaching Indian culture and Vedic heritage to children in the Long Island and Queens Communities. Her classes give students an insight into the purpose of life and teach them to be alert, responsible and focused in what they do.

Teaching Program

The Vedas, the great Indian heritage, are the world's oldest Scriptures and they inspire values such as integrity, courage, love, self-discipline, vigor, and virtue. The course offered by YICG is an extensive program developed by Arsha Vidya Gurukulam. It promotes knowledge and understanding of the:

  • Ramayana
  • Mahabharata
  • Bhagavata Purana
  • Bhagavad Gita
  • Upanishads

Students also learn about Gods and Goddesses, Isvara and religious disciplines. The course at YICG is based on the age/grade of students, and is conducted for children in Pre-k and up.

Be Instructed by a Teacher with a Vedic Lineage

Dr. Raji Subramaniam grew up in a close-knit Vedic family following age old customs and traditions to the book. It's her lineage that has given her a deep sense of appreciation and respect for the Vedas. Before coming to YICG, she was with a Bala Vihar where she played an active role in inculcating in young children knowledge and reverence for ancient Indian culture and its moral values. At YICG, she has been teaching Vedic heritage since 2002. As a dutiful Vedic teacher, she commands the respect of her students with her lucid and interesting classes. She has organized quite a few events at YICG - Kalanjali (Carnatic music festival), Sports Day, Talent Nite and Spring Festival.
