Ms. Vasundhara Sureka is Head of the Departments of Hindi and Yoga for Youth at YICG (Young Indian Culture Group, Inc.) NYC, which has been serving the Long Island and Queens community since 1994. Being an active board member, she takes her responsibilities as Deputy Director and treasurer of YICG seriously.
Ms. Sureka holds a BBA Degree in accounting from Sydenham College of Commerce affiliated to Bombay University. After coming to the US, she was involved in various community projects on Long Island via the Indian Association of Long Island and Association of Indians in America. She has the experience of running a successful Hindi teaching program for five years before joining YICG. As a YICG Hindi teacher, her main focus has been on promoting Indian culture among our children here through teaching of the Hindi language.

Hindi Classes
Hindi is a highly expressive language and has been enriched and influenced by Dravidian, Farsi, Portuguese, Turkish, Arabic, and English. Ms. Sureka conducts Hindi language classes for three levels of learning:
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced
She has developed a well structured curriculum which non-Hindi speakers find easy to comprehend. The classes are scheduled to teach students how to read, write and speak the language with confidence. Students gain more exposure and make rapid progress in learning the language through practice sessions. Poems and songs are also included as part of the language learning program.
Ms. Vasundhara Sureka would focus on the progress made by her students and assist them at every step to guarantee success. Students can take the standard exams conducted by the Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha, India.
Yoga Classes
for a Healthy Mind, Body and Spirit
YICG's Yoga classes for youth help develop a healthy mind, body and spirit right from a young age. Indeed, the union of the mind, spirit, and body is one of the goals of Yoga. The term "yoga" is Sanskrit for "union." The classes help reduce stress and create a sense of well-being.
Ms. Sureka's target students are boys and girls in the age group 9-12. Some of the features of her classes are:
- Training in asanas (body postures) and pranayams (breathing techniques)
- Games and storytelling for fun
